The Library has two audience recordings.
The first is a pretty good recording, compromised only by a bit of tape hiss and a rough edit. A rough edit falls between Friend Of The Devil and Mr. Tambourine Man that results in the clipping if the last second or two of the former. Otherwise, clean, complete, and problem free. Dubbed 06/27/98. 2 x 60 min.
The second is a fair, though a bit uneven, recording. The second half (from Mr. Tambourine Man onwards) is cleaner than the first. Our taper, MC, reveals, "... the first side is not as loud as the second side due to where I had the recorder setup (I was front row, a few feet away from the speakers, with the tape recordedr [sic] in my pocket... but after side one ended I removed it from my pocket and eventually moved myself, so the quality got a lot better.....)..." The end of Friend Of The Devil is clipped. MC explained, "the last minute or so of Friend of The Devil is clipped (it was my first time taping and was trying to juggle the recorder, with the security guard right in front of me and had to pick my chances to flip sides sparingly; AKA i was nervous! :) ) ,,," I have taken the liberty of fading it out and fading in the next set (Mr. Tambourine Man) to minimize the distraction. The last second or two of Ballad Of A Thin Man is clipped. Also be prepared for occasionally obtrusive audience chatter, some of which is strong language. Thanks, Mike, not a bad first effort. Dubbed 05/30/97. 110 min.
