The Library has two audience recordings.
The first is a fair audience recording, compromised by some distortion, a destructive tape flip, and a bit of obtrusive audience chatter. The first few seconds of Make You Feel My Love are clipped. Paul, the taper, was a tad reluctant to share this one. He wrote: "... But believe me it isn't pleasant to listen to. My peak level meter was suddenly reading way too low from the actual reading. This caused me to set the input level too high. Probably would've been all right if I'd set the input lower by a few notches. But I was operating blind." After having listened to the tape no less than four times in the course of preparing the analog Master, though distortion is undeniably present, I did not find it nearly as objectionable as did Paul. In fact, overall it's not a bad listen. Thanks, Paul! Dubbed 07/14/99. 110 min. Request 9907041.
The second is a pretty good audience recording, compromised by some background noise, a destructive tape flip, and a fair bit of obtrusive audience chatter. I've mitigated much of the background noise with rather aggressive use of a Graphic Equalizer whilst preparing the analog Masters. Bradley, the taper, wrote: "not as much chatter, a better recording than duluth. rarely does the audience detract from hearing the music. however, a rather distant recording. ... i used my traditional sony walkman. therefor, the levels are rather low." The end of Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again is clipped. Otherwise, complete and problem free. Bradley very kindly lent the Library his Master tape. Thanks, Bradley!
